Hand Made Sketchbook
Hand Made Sketchbook
Sketchbook is a very important and useful learning tool for architecture students.
Take notes, design revisions, inspiration records, or as an graphic diary.
In today's highly electronic and intelligent world, people are increasingly using electronic equipment to replace traditional hand tools.
The blackboard becomes a projector, the paper book becomes an electronic document, and the notebook becomes an ipad.
Electronic devices are indeed more convenient, faster and smarter in many ways.
What about sketchbooks? If it becomes an electronic drawing board, then we will lose the feeling of hand-drawing.
So we decided to start with paper cutting and make a sketchbook of our own by hand.
The first step is to make the inner pages. I folded the A4 size paper into A5 size. This is not only convenient to carry, but also has a flat and complete spread when opened。
The second step is to glue all the folded individual pages together, this will give you a continuous and complete book liner.
The third step is to place all pasted continuous inner pages and prepare for the next step of binding.
The fourth step is binding. I originally wanted to choose butterfly binding, but then I could only open the book from one side. So I ditched the side closures and just glued the hinges together so I could open the book from both left and right directions.
The last thing is to make the cover of the book. Because the inner pages of the book I made earlier can be opened flexibly in two directions, and the paper is soft, so I chose soft-shell cardboard to make the cover of the book.
And the front and back of this sketchbook have the same design, and the opening method is the same. In this way, when I use it, it can be used normally no matter which side it is opened from.
